Spotlight on our Dental Assistants!
This year, the week of March 7 – 13th has been deemed Dental Assistants Recognition Week. This special week is dedicated to all of the hardworking dental assistants who devote their careers to helping provide excellent dental care to patients.
In honor of this week, Harrisburg Pediatric Dentistry is celebrating all of our dental assistant staff members for their commitment to our patients each and every day. During this celebration, we’d like to acknowledge the contributions our dental assistants make. This is ever so important in the time we live in now, where healthcare workers are putting their own personal health on the line to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What does a dental assistant do?
For those unfamiliar with the role or responsibilities of dental assistants, Harrisburg Pediatric Dentistry would like to take this special week to explain what a dental assistant does and how important they are to the team.
A job as a dental assistant is more than passing instruments to the dentist. In fact, the job requires a broad set of skills, including but not limited to: administrative, technical, and people skills. You can find a dental assistant sitting next to the patient and dentist in the exam room, assisting with procedures, operating equipment, and even speaking with patients to calm their nerves. Sometimes, dental assistants are charged with managing the business office of a practice, working with insurance companies and billing.
There’s no doubt that the success of a dental practice is dependent upon the work done by its dental assistants. And for that, Harrisburg Pediatric Dentistry is extremely thankful. We thank the dental assistants on our team, as well as all other dental assistants out there ensuring their dental practice runs like a well-oiled machine.
